Explore the Rio Negro and its tributaries aboard a charming and comfortable cruising vessel and encounter the inhabitants of this remote part of the world. Stay at an Ecolodge at the heart of the Amazon Basin and explore nature accompanied by one of the best ecotourism guides in the country. You will also travel to "Encontra das Aguas" where two of the world's largest rivers, the Amazon and the Negro, join in a turbulent maelstrom.
During the cruise we venture far up the least inhabited river in the Amazon Basin: Rio Negro, and explore areas that are rarely visited to seek out the mysterious life that stirs in the in the heart of wild nature.

Day 1. Manaus
International flight towards Manaus, Brazil. Greet and meet at the airport, transfer to Manaus at the four star Hotel Tropical, among the best in the Amazon Basin; diner at the hotel.

Days 2 to 9. Expedition cruise to the Heart of Amazon.
This cruise explores some of the most untouched rainforest in the entire Amazon. Your expedition vessel, The Tucan, is among the most comfortable in the Amazon. Our unique itinerary goes far into the forest where we are able to see creatures that are hidden to other visitors. It is the most informative, active, and authentic trip in this wide area and this cruise goes beyond the touristy experience of most cruises as you will go farther into the forest and visit areas rarely if ever visited by other groups. You will see creatures that are almost never seen on other Amazon trips.
Boat description
Your will be cruising in the comfort of a double occupancy cabin. All of the 9 cabins are outside cabins with large windows air-conditioned with individual thermostat, they are very comfortable and each has its own private bathroom. The salon at the front of the boat allows splendid views of the rainforest throughout the day and it is air-conditioned, though in the cool of the day the windows are left open to breathe the fresh air scented by Amazon blossoms. There are lots of windows on the boat and all of them open and close.
The observation deck is open and an exceptional place to observe wildlife. The forward balcony allows views to the front and into the treetops. From beneath the sun canopy you will see the world's greatest collection of birds and the occasional monkey cavorting in the branches. From the top deck there is wilderness as far as the eye can see. The top deck is a wonderful place to lounge around as we cruise along the wilderness river. The balcony around the front of the boat is a wonderful place to pull up a chair and observe the forest close up. The salon is airy and has windows all the way around. All of the walls are paneled in lovely hardwood.
Off the boat with guides
The program is also active with several excursions off the boat every day, and guests may choose to participate in some but not all of them. You will walk in the forest at your rhythm, because during these expeditions the group is divided into small ones, depending on the physical level of each person and each group has a private guide and woodsman. If you decide not to participate in these excursions, you can have a quite enjoyable trip by simply staying on board or participating in canoe excursions. The guides are some of the very best in the Amazon, they are skilled bilingual naturalists and their experience helps passengers unlock the secrets of the magnificent wildlife of the rainforest.
During the first days of the eco-adventure cruise, we venture far up the Rio Negro and explore the forest by foot and in small boats. There are excellent occasions to swim in the cleanest water of the world, visit local settlers that live deep in the forest and spend a great deal of time looking for and observing the greatest collection of wildlife on the planet.
On day 6 we reach an extraordinary river called the Rio Jauaperi and spend the day in this unspoiled and lovely rainforest area.
On day 7 we proceed down the south-western bank of the Rio Negro observing the different wildlife found on this other side of the large river. Our discovery of the forest continues as our list of observed creatures grows.
On day 8 we will visit the village of Novo Airão and walk through its streets marvelling at how the 19th Century thrives in this remote corner of the globe. We travel through the night to the confluence of the Amazon and Negro Rivers.
On day 9 we visit the Lago Janauari Ecological Park where the thick brown water of the Amazon River flows swiftly through the forest. This area is abundant with life and we are almost guaranteed to see monkeys. We then travel to the "Encontra das Aguas" the stark several mile long line where the world's two largest rivers, the Amazon and the Negro, join in a turbulent maelstrom. In the evening we will return near Manaus for our last overnight on the boat.
On day 10, after breakfast we disembark and spend a free day in Manaus. Check-in at your 4* hotel around 13h00, this is a good time for washing clothes, doing some shopping and relaxing as tomorrow we embark on a new adventure that will take us ffurther in the jungle !
On days 11, 12 and 13 (3 nights) : This stay at a jungle lodge located on the Urubu river will allow us to wake up to the sound of exotic birds singing, watching the first sunshine traversing the treetops, while sitting on the front porch of your bungalow, sipping on a hot cup of coffee, and MUCH more. The eco-lodge will introduce you to an excellent immersion in the Amazon Basin lifestyle. Around the lodge you can take part in many activities, all of them closely related to nature. This eco-complex offers you a perfect base from where to explore the Amazon Basin and its natural wonders. Enjoy your first contact with the jungle and observe the giant water lily, the majestic trees (Brazil Nuts and Sumaumas), the birds and the local communities. Several excursions accompanied by local highly skilled guides are offered and you may choose to participate in some or all of them or not at all. You decide!
You will enjoy here excellent regional and international meals served at the lodge 3 times a day.
Day 14 : Breakfast and transfer to the Manaus airport for your international return flight.
