Day 1. Rio Reventazon, Florida Section, class III
We meet you this morning in the San Jose area at your hotel and transfer to the put-in of the Florida Section of Rio Reventazon. This section of the mighty river is some of the fastest and best 10 miles / 16 km of Class III rapids you'll ever paddle! If you're a first-time or experienced paddler looking for the excitement of big waves, hydraulics, and stunning scenery, then this river is for you. Lunch served pick nick on the riverbanks. Overnight and evening meal in a charming inn.
Day 2. Río Pacuare. Class III-IV
Breakfast at the lodge and 9:00 a.m. departure towards the little town of Tres Equis. At the road head there, we will transfer our overnight gear into dry bags, load the rafts onto the truck and ride about 4 Km to the river. Once on the water, we work as a team to run our rafts through Class III rapids, each one bigger than the one before! We will have lunch on the river, and our overnight gear and food will be transported with to the camp by our guides in oared rafts. Our camp for the next two nights is in the heart of the rainforest. A delicious happy hour and dinner is served here. Traditional Indian "RANCHOS" provide exceptional shelter for lodging and the evening's activities. And do not forget to take some time in the waterfall that cascades out of the forest through the camp and into the Pacuare itself!! You will never forget the experience of sleeping in the rainforest.
Day 3. Rio Pacuare Lodge
Don't worry about wake-up time... the beauty of the light through the forest, the sound of toucans and the smell of coffee will get you going. This day is designed to enjoy the lodge surroundings. You can choose a variety of hikes - a 4-5 hour hike high into the Pacuare Reserve; a 2-3 hour hike to nearby waterfalls and pools, or short walks near the lodge - or just relax in a hammock and enjoy nature. You can experience here with a naturalist guide some of the best wildlife watching of you trip. Experience a side of the Pacuare River that very few people get to know!
Day 4. Rio Pacuare
After an early morning coffee and breakfast, we leave the campsite and head down river. Morning is a wonderful time for bird-watching, especially toucans, right in camp!! Class III and IV rapids await us downstream: Terciopelo, Double Drop, The Huacas... one after the next until take out. Depending on the weather, the river level and our group interest, we take time to explore side creeds, catch a sun tan, and enjoy world class white-water. We will make it to take out by mid-afternoon, de-rig our rafts, and get setup for a hot shower and evening meal in tonight's charming inn.
Day 5. Rio Reventazon Pascua Section. Class IV
Pascua to Siquirres (15 miles). A delightful, exciting and scenic trip. Today we paddle through rapids known as THE NORTH SEA or HORRENDITO, feel the thrill of Class IV rafting. All participants must be in good physical condition and ready to remain active all day. After this very active day on the river, we drive towards our charming eco-lodge in the region of Turrialba from where excellent wildlife watching will be done in the morning. Evening meal at the lodge, a beautiful place to relax.
Day 6. Eco-lodge stay, Volcan Irazu, San Jose
Today some excellent wildlife watching is proposed followed by an excursion to the volcano Irazu. Drive towards San Jose where you will be transferred to your hotel or in the airport (tonight's hotel stay and evening meal are not included in this program). End of the adventure.
