Explore Tortuguero, a land of incredible biological diversity where, at night, from July to September, impressive Green Sea Turtles nest on the beach.

A tropical sanctuary for more than 300 different species of birds and a natural habitat for an amazing array of wildlife; such as monkeys, crocodiles and iguanas, among many others.

Discover the lush vegetation that abounds in the midst of the Rainforest. Tortuguero is a navigable network of lakes and canals that cross the National Park from Southeast to Northwest accessible only by boat or air - there are no roads to get there.

During your stay, enjoy a pool surrounded by exotic gardens and relax in the ranchos with hammocks. Comfortable rooms with ceiling fans provide tranquil garden views. Stroll through the nature trails or take a leisurely walk on the pristine beach in front of your lodge.

Day 1
6:25-6:35
 Pick up at your hotel in San Jose.
08:00
 Stop for typical Costa Rican breakfast at Río Danta Restaurant in Guápiles surrounded by the sounds of the Danta River and marvellous views of the gardens.
09:00
 Departure to Puerto Astúa in Matina.
11:00
 Arrival to Puerto Astúa private dock. Before you board the boat for a 2 hour ride on the canals to Tortuguero and Mawamba Lodge, you will enjoy a selection of tropical fruits, fresh water.
13:15-13:30
 Arrival to your 3* superior eco-lodge and lunch at the restaurant.

 Afternoon tour to Tortuguero town, starting at the entrance to the beach in front of the hotel. Visit the Caribbean Conservation Corporation Museum and the village.
17:00
 Return by boat to the lodge for free time, enjoy pool area and surroundings.

 Meet at the conference room for a slide show presentation on Tortuguero area, wildlife and activities.

 Dinner at the lodge.
Day 2

 Meet for coffee & crackers at the entertainment room.

 Morning boat tour through the Tortuguero Canals.

 Return for breakfast at the lodge.

 Departure by boat to Tortuguero Hill or National Park where you will enjoy a hiking trip on the trails.
Noon
 Arrival and lunch included at the hotel.

 Afternoon canal boat tour.

 Return to the lodge for relaxation.

 Dinner at the lodge. Optional night tour to search the turtle nesting (during season July to September).
Day 3
Free day to join one of our daily tours, including morning & afternoon boat tours in the canals or hiking trip to Tortuguero Hill or National Park. Also enjoy lodge's facilities including pool area, nature trails, butterfly garden & entertainment room. Optional & additional cost activities include fishing and canoeing in the area. All meals & lodging included at the lodge.

 Breakfast at the lodge.

 Meet at the docks for the return boat ride to Puerto Astúa in Matina.
11:00
 Arrival to Puerto Astúa. Enjoy a selection of tropical fruits and fresh water. Board the bus for a return drive towards San Jose.

 Lunch at restaurant Río Danta in Guápiles.
13:45-14:00
 Return drive towards San Jose.
15:30-16:00
 Drop off at your hotel in San Jose (tonight's stay is not included in this tour package, please let us know if you would like us to book your lodging in San Jose tonight)

NB: The order and logistics of the itinerary may be altered depending on weather conditions. Luggage is limited to 12kg / 25 lb /person. Alcoholic beverages, sodas or bottled water are NOT INCLUDED in the tour price.
