This 8 day adventure brings nature and outdoor lovers closer to these richness as well as all those who wish to discover and explore our beautiful province while descending its prisitine rivers. The journey begins on calmer river sections allowing the neophytes to follow our training program and learn the different paddle techniques enabling them to handle the canoe in a safe way and built their confidence when they enter and negociate the rapids.

5 km = 3 miles
Day 1. Montreal international airport. Transfer in town (Plateau Mont Royal)
Greet & meet at the airport and transfer to the Inn. Free and documented exploration of the metropolis or relaxation. Dinner at our Inn or in a restaurant in the Plateau Mont Royal area. Overnight in a charming 3* Inn well located in the heart of Montreal.

Day 2. Descending the Red River, introduction and training
Canoe-camping in Canada
Early departure for the mountainous region of the Laurentides. Instruction of the technical aspects of canoeing and beginning of the descent (section from the Rouge-Matawin Reserve to Ascension). A peaceful day in harmony with a natural environment of great beauty. Route today: 15 km. Easy descent, some class I rapids. Overnight in a rustic camp (tents) on the riverbank.

Day 3. Descending the Red River - section from Ascension to Annonciation
The journey today will be 25 to 30 km through scenic landscapes and many meanders and dead arms dug in drifts. Easy descent with a few class II rapids. Overnight in a rustic camp near the river.

Day 4. Descending the Red River - section from Annonciation to Labelle
Finishing of the Red River descent through a more "turbulent" section punctuated by pleasant rapids: the Rapid of the Farm (RII/RIII), the Rapid of the Squirrels (RI) and the Rapid of the Italians (RII/RIII). A short portage and a few other smaller rapids are also on the program. The run today is 25 km. Overnight in a charming Inn in Labelle, near our exit point on the river.

Day 5. Jacques Cartier National Park - installation
Early departure towards the Jacques Cartier National Park (6 hours drive). Picnic stop on the road to brake in two halfs the long drive. Arrival at the park in the afternoon. Installation of the camp and the kitchen and preparation of a good evening meal. Relaxation around a campfire under the stars, in a natural and enchanting environment. Overnight in a comfortable camp with all the services (clean hot showers and bathroom) or in a charming rustic cottage (with all the services and electricity) in the woods near the river.

Day 6. Descent of the Jacques-Cartier River
Early breakfast and transfer to our put-in in the Jacques Cartier River, one of the natural treasures of Quebec. Our journey today will take us 18 km in a fast current and a wide river with several pleasant class II, some class I and class III rapids. Short and easy portages are also possible. Overnight in the park at the same location.

Day 7. Jacques-Cartier River, from the camp to Tewkesbury
We continue today our descent of this magnificent section of the Jacques-Cartier River on a 15 km journey to Tewkesbury. Return to the camp in the afternoon. Overnight in the same location.

A guide and his prow partnerDay 8. Last section and transfer to Montreal (or Quebec)
Today we undertake the last and final section of the river, it will take us to the river mouth through superb landscapes and an active ride. At the take-out point we drive back to Montreal (3,5hrs drive). Transfer to the international airport or at your hotel. End of the adventure. Accommodation not included in the package for tonight.

  • All the transports in a private and comfortable vehicle and the services of a driver throughout the tour;
  • All the necessary equipment (except for some personal items recommended in your "Travelers File" such as a sleeping bag, a pocket knife, a frontal lamp or flash light, a bag pack etc);
  • Accommodations in 3* Inns, rustic cottages and tent camps with and without facilities (all the camping and cooking gear is provided);
  • All the meals, from arrival days to departure. The meals are served in restaurants and inns or prepared in group with the best and freshest ingredients to compose a varied and well-balanced menu;
  • All the foreseen activities and entry fees, a detailed tour file (traveler's file).
